Brief:

Your objective in the two Applied Research Reports Units is to complete a professional report presenting industry specific research that is practical and relevant to the needs of targeted stakeholders. Typically, you will negotiate with your Tutor a topic that will directly help you to advance your professional career.

This Unit and the following Unit require you to focus intensely on a professional or industry management problem/issue/opportunity. This may apply to a single organisation (private or government), an industry or sector, or society broadly.

Choose a topic in which you are interested as you will be working on the topic for six assessment tasks over the entire duration of both research project units.

Specifically, this assessment task 1 is designed to assist you to develop your research skills and firm up your Research Problem and your Research Question. Importantly, this is your opportunity to ensure that whatever topic you choose has sufficient literature published, so that you can complete your overall Research Report. The Problem and Question will flow through everything you do in this Unit, even to the Research Report which is the final assessment Item in your second Applied Research Project Unit.

The topic areas:

The research topic areas and specific research questions from which students may choose at the commencement of Applied Research Project I are drawn from the research activities of the SCU Engineering unit. The research questions and tasks are drawn from the following topic areas:

• Operating Systems
  
  o Future of OS

The most important aspects of computer operating systems:

• Balancing isolation (which is important to security) against performance (which is important to using it).
• Manage hardware (processor, memory, I/O devices, etc.)
• Provide common services to software (e.g., system calls, libraries, etc.)

Solution

1.0 Introduction

The current day's operating systems are upside down. Most hardware that is developed and gradually struggles upwards from the various machinery are disks, displays, and also with processors towards the user. As per the MBA Assignment Expert, The hope is that the information management tool and the operating system will grow up soon top-down. The retail industry is the most promising industry of the current day, but there are some issues still the respective industry is facing, especially the communication issue. The communication issue can be resolved easily with the appropriate operating system (Høiland-Jørgensen et al. 2018). The respective research tries to support the retail industry by solving the issue of miscommunication with the usage of Operating Systems. The report also enlightens the research problem, questions, and the uniqueness of the research with the conclusion.

2.0 Research Problem

Communication is one of the most important aspects of any business, especially retail. Excellent external and internal communication is supportive for the development of positive effects on both the customers and the consumers and also to employees (Men, and Yue, 2019). So it can be stated that in the retail industry, communication is very important. However, most retail organisations are facing issues due to the improper communication system, and that ultimately results in dissatisfaction among the consumers, losing loyalty to the brand, loss of employee engagement and so on (Nawaz et al. 2019). There is a need to solve the issue immediately to increase the customer base.

The operating systems can make communication systems possible. Two basic models of communication about the inter-process are there in the O.S. Those are shared memory and message passing. The memory region is always shared by various cooperating processes that are shared and established in the model of O.S. (Nawaz et al. 2018). Some processes can exchange information by writing and reading data of the shared region. The respective research helps the retail industry by developing a clear understanding of the O.S., and its interposes. As the retail industry can retain good communication with the employees and customers, it can gain loyalty from that side and ultimately increase employability and revenue generation. 

3.0 Research Question (s)

The research questions are as follows:

● What is the purpose of the operating system?
● How is the real-time system of the O.S. able to solve the issue of time consumption during the time of communication?
● Which supportiveness is provided by the Operating system in the retail sector to solve the issue related to communication?

4.0 Uniqueness of this research

Purpose of the Operating system 

The purpose of the operating system is to provide appropriate security by using the protection of passwords to protect the data of the user, and it also provides support to prevent access that is unauthorized to the user data as well as to the programmer of the user (Hamdani et al. 2021). On the other hand, the Operating system can develop appropriate coordination among the other software and users, which increases time management. O.S. is effective for assigning compilers, assemblers, interpreters and also to other software for different users of computer systems.

Effectiveness of RTOS to handle various tasks at the same time

An RTOS, or the real-time operating system, is a kind of operating system for various real-time applications that possesses events and data. On the other hand, RTOS is a kind of component that continuously switches all the tasks and provides multiple programs about the impression that are being implemented and executed at a single time for a single processing core. Real-time operating systems have the features of preemptive and also driven-event that make the Operating system provide appropriate priority for completing any task properly (de Sousa Barros, 2018). So it can be stated that RTOS, as per the task priority, switches between the various tasks. Hereby need to mention that the Driven-event system of the RTOS switches among the tasks as per the priorities while the other system of RTOS, named the time-sharing system, always switches any task as per the time or clock (Găitan and Zagan, 2021). So it can be stated that the RTOS is effective in handling a lot of work and transferring data in a single time, and managing the total work time of the systems and software properly.

Evaluation of RTOS to solve the issue like communication in the retail sector

There is a lot of data about the consumers and their orders and the stocks the retail store needs to maintain through the operating system. However, failure inappropriate communication can develop misunderstandings among the suppliers and also with the consumers, which is not desirable. The RTOS can handle multiple works within a single time, so its usage of it in the retail sector supports the respective industry in developing appropriate communication among the team members, the supplier and also with the consumers (Zagan and Găitan, 2019). So the shortage of stocks and overflow of products in the retail sector can be easily handled with the RTOS. There only needs to be the implementation of the respective system within the organization. 

6.0 Conclusions

Based on the respective report, it can be concluded that O.S. means the operating system can solve various issues together in various industries as well as the daily basis issues of our life. On the other hand, A.I. means artificial intelligence is going to be one of the most important O.S. systems that can solve the issues about communication in the retail sector in the near future. There are various types of O.S. in the market, most of which can solve communication issues. As per the choice of the company, the adoption of the Operating system takes place. Microsoft Windows NT is the most current Operating system used by most organizations. So it can be concluded that the software of the retail operations always equips bricks and mortar in the retail industry to take their existing and new data that ultimately provides benefits to the business.
