Assessment Description

Students are required to write a reflection piece every week to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts and topics learnt during that week. This will be collated together at the end of the trimester in a portfolio to assess students learning experience throughout this unit. To complete
this assessment, it is highly recommended for students to attend the classes regularly to develop an understand of the concepts and techniques covered in the assessment.

At the end of each session students are expected to write a 300-500 word essay where they will
reflect up on the topics and learnings covered during that session. This is an individual assessment and students are expected to cite using appropriate referencing to support your work.

I have understood from the week's lecture about process identification and modelling of essential processes. I have gathered information about the modelling of the value chain and prioritisation. An organisation's model of the value chain is the process of delivering value to stakeholders and customers. As per the MBA Assignment Expert, The major guidelines for identifying horizontal boundaries used in the value chain are change of key business objects and change in time or frequency (Ambos et al., 2021). The value chain is used for service providers such as in IT for system integration, networking services and outsourcing.

Similarly, the prioritisation process is the selection of business processes according to importance, feasibility, dysfunction or health. I have learnt about typical artefacts, process architecture and BPM models. Typical artefacts consist of processes of the value chain and root processes. The process architecture consists of three levels of process landscape, subprocesses such as BPMN and main processes (Rouhani and Zamenian, 2021). I learned about the purposes for implementing process modelling that emphasise communication, analysis and documentation. I comprehended the model of business process and notation (BPMN). 

BPMN is a graph that comprises crucial components of activity, gateway, sequence flow and event. I understood that designation via models of reference is utilised as a template for designing process architecture. The major examples of reference models are the Library of Information Technology and Infrastructure (ITIL), Framework of Process Classification and Model of Value Reference (VRM) (Liu et al., 2021). I derived knowledge about the gateways such as XOR Gateway. XOR Gateway taps points of decisions (XOR-split) and points of merging alternative flows (XOR-join). There is an AND Gateway that provides a technique for creating and synchronising parallel flows. I have learnt that AND Gateway is commonly used at checkpoints at airport security. Simultaneously, I have recognised that OR Gateway is used to devise and assimilate 'n' out of parallel flows of 'm'. The OR Gateway is used to assist the process of order distribution.
