Introduction

â—Ź Effective business information is important for effective performance.

â—Ź Organisations of hospitality industry need to use effective tool and technology.

â—Ź This study will discuss the impact of technological tools in increasing productivity for hotel industry organisations.

In discussing the impact and importance of the business information system an article was selected that is intended to discuss the tools and technology which are beneficial for hotel industry organisations. According to the MBA Assignment Expert, Organisations of the hotel industry need to address relevant information about tier services to their target audiences. This study will find out how employees could perform well in the implementation of the hotel reservation system. It will examine the effect of task technology fit in the information system as well as its user performance. It will discuss how task technology fits with employee engagement and productivity for hotel industry organisations. It will also discuss how hotel organisations can increase the level of information used. It will discuss the importance of international technological tools for the enhancement of engagement of stakeholders both internal and external in organisations of the hotel industry.

Background

â—Ź A high population has both positive and negative factors in developing countries.

â—Ź Skilled population can contribute to economics by being an asset (Benbya, Pachidi and Jarvenpaa, 2021).

â—Ź On the other hand, unskilled populations are a burden that increases liabilities (Ratna et al., 2020).

â—Ź Tourism and hotel industry comes under the service sector economy indirectly supporting the agricultural and industrial sector both directly and indirectly.

This study is based on the analysis of information collected from individual employees of a star hotel that is located in the South Kalimantan province of Indonesia. Huge population and unemployment are an issue in developing countries and Indonesia is not an exceptional case. It has a strong agricultural sector and fishery industries. The hotel and tourism industry comes under the service sector economy. Development in the Hotel and tourism sectors can include other industrial sectors in their growth story. Therefore, it is important to use effective technological tools that will address relevant information to target visitors. This is beneficial for hotel companies to target domestic and foreign visitors.

Theoretical framework

â—Ź The study approaches behaviour information system theory.

â—Ź This theory suggests that observable behaviours are always embedded into system hierarchies.

â—Ź A unified theory of acceptance examined the acceptance of technological tools (Rainer and Prince, 2021).

â—Ź Modern organisation theory suggests adapting to the changing business environment.

Theoretical framework always connects the research with existing knowledge and incidents. This helps to maintain a rule-based and structured order. This study used the unified theory of acceptance, modern organisation theory and behavioural information system theory to connect the aims and objective of this study with the information that it collected and analysed. Those theories provided a foundational view that serves to make roadmaps to recommend relevant suggestions. The theoretical framework provides a thoughtful understanding of the purpose, problem and significance of research studies. Regarding this study, it is objected to discussing technological tasks and tools that will enhance the performance of user satisfaction, the discussed theories helped to establish thoughtful understandings.

Research Methods

â—Ź Use of positive paradigm, quantitative methods, and explanatory approach.

â—Ź Respondents are front office employees of South Kalimantan Province (Ratna et al., 2020).

â—Ź Variables are task technology, usage, user satisfaction, and performance.

This research has used the positive paradigm by relating quantitative, operational, and behavioral aspects along with having an explanatory aspect. The positive paradigm helps the study align with the reality regarding the effect of the information system on performance as well as user satisfaction. On the other hand, the use of explanatory research methods helps with the detailed explanation of the causal relationship between the hypotheses and the variables. The variables include task technology fit, usage, user satisfaction, and performance. Moreover, the quantitative approach is implemented on the front office employees of South Kalimantan Province who use the Star hotel reservation information system. This article emphasises these variables to analyse the impact of the information system on these employees.

Findings

â—Ź Connection of use level and performance of information systems.

â—Ź The use of the reservation information system improves employees’ performance.

â—Ź Increases productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness of the hotels (Ezzaouia and Bulchand-Gidumal, 2023).

This article also specifies several important aspects of using the information system such as the connection between the use level of the information system and the performance of the users. This study also identifies that the use of information systems and user performance does not have any effect on the satisfaction of users. However, the interrelationship between the performance and usage impacts these two aspects. This article shows that the use of the reservation information system significantly improves the performance of the employees of the hotels. With the performance improvements, the job completion rate is also increased to maintain the standardized quality and reduce the rate of errors. Moreover, it also increases productivity, and quality of work as well as increases effectiveness and efficiency.

Discussion

â—Ź Importance of usage of user satisfaction and employee’s performance.

â—Ź Flexibility in the operational guidance of the information system.

â—Ź Helps to measure the employees’ performance more accurately (Koc, 2020).

This part of the discussion mainly highlights some aspects related to the information system. In this regard, the effect of usage on user satisfaction and the influence of usage on performance can be regarded as an important aspect. Regarding the first aspect, the importance of the online system is identified along with its easy, practical, and operational activities. The flexibility in the operational manual of the information system also increases the employee's satisfaction rate. This article also identifies the importance of training and advisory programs to evaluate the effectiveness of the reservation information system. This aspect also highlights that the measurement system also becomes simpler and more effective and that makes evaluation of the performances of the employees more accurate.

Contd

â—Ź Evaluating the performance of information systems according to usage.

â—Ź The reservation information system helps in data storage and data processing.

â—Ź Enhances employees' perception and increases productivity (Tan and Despotis, 2021).

The discussion part of this study also highlights the importance of evaluating the performance of information systems based on usage. This article shows that with the help of the reservation information system, the data storage and data process approach become easier for the employees. As a result, the front desk employees can manage to improve the quality as well as increase work productivity. The achievement of employees using the information system also makes them attracted to using the information system. Besides that, user satisfaction is also considered a very important part of the use of information systems. The easy and flexible approach of the business information system also enhances the perception of the employees which also positively affects productivity.

Limitation

â—Ź Describe the use of information technology on the front office hotel employees.

â—Ź Only discuss the reservation information system and its impact (Cobanoglu et al., 2021).

â—Ź Lack of detailed discussion of variables, indicators, and situational analysis.

This article mainly focuses on the use of information technology on front office hotel employees and the impact of OT on their work performance. On the other hand, other departments like housekeeping along with food and beverages are excluded from the discussion. That makes this presentation narrower in deciding the impact of business information technology. According to the article, the research is conducted on the hotels of South Kalimantan. This aspect makes this research more limited and difficult to maintain credibility. The use and impact of the information system include very wide areas that only the use of the reservation information system cannot be compelled with. On the other hand, the detailed discussion of the variables and indicators along with the situation and conditions are also not mentioned in this study.

Recommendation

â—Ź Authors recommended that the appropriate use of information can mitigate errors in individual tasks.

â—Ź The authors recommended that individual satisfaction regarding the use of IT tools is important (Skoumpopoulou and Robson, 2020).

â—Ź It is a fact while jobs are resolved quickly in an automated manner, performance and productivity automatically increase (Ratna et al., 2020).

Based on the analysis of collected information based on the theories and suggestions of expertises the following suggestions are recommended. Appropriate use of Information technological tools is important for organisations in the hotel industry. It is important if individual employees are not satisfied with the application of IT tools, then productivity can never be achieved as per the expectation of organisational management. Satisfaction is felt by individuals if they perform well with their responsibilities. This is important because if individual employees cannot use IT tools appropriately then they can never solve problems.

Conclusion

â—Ź Impact of a business information system on user performance and satisfaction.
â—Ź Use of Behavior information system theory and Unified theory of acceptance.
â—Ź Description of findings limitation and suitable recommendations.

From the above description, it can be concluded that this presentation mainly describes the impact of a business information system on user performance as well as on their satisfaction. In this regard, an article has been chosen that specifies the effect of task-technology fit by using the reservation information system in the front offices of South Kalimantan Province hotels. This study briefly describes the background along with behavior information system theory and Unified theory of acceptance used in this study. The research methods highlight the relation between the variables along with the aspects that affect the employee's performance and satisfaction. Moreover, this study also identifies the potential limitation that narrows the scope of impact of informational technology along with providing suitable recommendations.
