This assignment aims to explore academic integrity in education and provide a concise statement on the topic backed byrecent and relevant research.

Instructions to Students

This assessment must be completed by each student. Each student will produce appropriate written (email) and visual (flyer) texts focusing on using the appropriate form of language and visual aspects to suit the intended audience and purpose of the text. The purpose of the texts is to inform and educate the targeted audience on the importance of maintaining academic integrity. Students must include the following tasks –

1. Exploring the topic of Academic Integrity in education for undergraduate and postgraduate first-trimester students and putting forward a statement that explores the importance of maintaining academic integrity. The statement must be supported by at least one academic source.

2. a) Adopting the role of ‘Student Spokesperson’, students are then to construct an email for fellow students informing of academic integrity, providing brief advice on how to avoid plagiarism and outlining various support that CIHE offers.

b) Preparing a visual flyer (as an email attachment) that informs students of essential academic integrity information.

3. A concluding statement that justifies why this email and design are appropriate for the purpose and intended audience.

The assessment should provide the following information:

• Introduction - Provide a brief overview of the task and introduce the topic of Academic Integrity.

• Statement on academic integrity - Define the term ‘academic integrity’ and convey clearly what the term means in education practices. What is misconduct, and how is this behaviour shown specifically by students? What do students need to do to maintain their academic integrity? Why is it so important?

• Written and visual texts -

a) Email – Include an appropriate subject line and terms of address, the main body of the email to be
paragraphed appropriately, closing remarks and salutations. Ensure the form of the language suits the purpose (to inform) and the intended audience (first-trimester students).

b) Flyer – Produce a flyer by using Canva or alternative software. The flyer must include appropriate colours, images and concise text outlining key information regarding how to maintain academic integrity. Ensure the visual content and language is appropriate for the purpose and the intended audience.

• Conclusion - Conclude with a statement that justifies why this email and design are appropriate for the purpose and intended audience. For example, outline language choices and visual and structural elements.

• Reference - A full list of references with at least 2 peer-reviewed sources following APA style.

Academic integrity refers to maintaining ethical values in educational institutes for both teachers and students. Academic integrity aims at emphasizing truthfulness and justice in educational institutions. It involves the process of presenting an individual honesty and showing respect for the work of other people through appropriate references. It is important to maintain academic integrity because it encourages an atmosphere of trust and respect among teachers and students. This process will ensure a desire for learning and personal development. These principles are violated by cheating and plagiarism, which damages the reputation of educational institutions. Academic integrity helps in developing students by following moral ethics and principles so they can contribute to society.
Statement on Academic Integrity

Academic Integrity is defined as the moral basis for maintaining academic endeavors. It includes values like integrity, accountability, and moral behavior. This idea will bring out the best in each student by producing more unique work and having proper citations and they should respect CIHE guidelines. One of the major reasons why maintaining academic integrity is important for students is so that students can maintain the credibility of their work. Students can increase the achievements and credibility of their academic achievements. Students can correctly cite their sources and do not make use of plagiarism. Students should aim at presenting their own ideas, which will show their interest in the subject, and will lay the benchmark in ethical learning. This foundation goes beyond classroom learning which will transform students into people who are not just educated but also have a sense of moral ethics along with knowledge (Cotton & Shipway, 2023). Students who aim at upholding integrity develop a sense of intellectual honesty and build the foundation for a lifelong dedication by which they can grow in their academics and professional pursuits. This practice will not only aim at enriching the student's educational journey and enhance the educational institutes as a whole, which will promote an atmosphere of respect. The term misconduct means that the student is violating the rules of academic integrity by cheating and plagiarism. These actions can harm students' reputations and jeopardize the educational environment.

It is important to create a culture of trust inside educational institutes for which academic integrity is essential. Students who aim at upholding ethical standards contribute to a society that respects and values education and moral ethics. It is important to create an environment that aims at promoting teamwork. Students who take part in this critical thinking process with the help of academic integrity. It helps students in acquiring more cognitive abilities. Students gain the ability to evaluate the facts by considering and combining various pieces of information to draw well-informed conclusions. With the help of analytical skills, students can explore real-life situations.

Students who aim at embracing ethical values throughout their academic career will easily transform themselves into good professionals who can fit into the requirement of various jobs(Stoesz,2022). Students who maintain academic integrity involve accurate citation and original well researched written content with no use of plagiarism.

Conclusion

Beyond guaranteeing the validity of students' academic achievements, it will aim at promoting trust and encouraging the personal and professional development of students.
