Brief Introduction
The research examines the issues of the coffee beans supply chain faced by Coffee Rome and measures for mitigation of the supply chain challenges.
Background
Coffee Rome is a popular brand that operates through 21,000 stores globally and manages wholesale supplies of ground coffee and whole beans. However, global challenges in the supply chain are creating uncertainty in the business operations of Coffee Rome by increasing the prices of coffee beans. The rise in prices of coffee beans leads to an enhancement of risks in production, marketing risks and reputation risks.
Problem statement (literature review)
The Coffee Rome Company had efficient growth in the recent past, but sometimes this company is facing some trouble due to the rise in pricing. Supplier chains of this company caused some trouble, causing the uprise price of coffee beans. Also, the operational cost became higher from the supplier's side. According to Baird, (2020), this sudden trouble is uncertainty in the supply chain. Also, the continuously changing climate threatens this company as efficient rain, diseases and proper temperature have started lacking. Coffee is quite a sensitive agricultural product. As a result, it easily becomes a target of climate change threats. Extreme heat waves, lack of rain and sudden hurricanes have caused some diseases. As a result, these factors impacted negatively on the coffee farms. In Addition, Ramos, Patrucco & Chavez, (2023), as the raw materials faced trouble, the price of the coffee beans started rising. Also, Coffee Rome is facing another problem with logistics. Coffee Rome is working with several suppliers and as a result, the uncertainty is continuously rising at the global level. the demand for high-quality coffee beans has created a challenge for the company. All these factors affected the profit margin of the Coffee Rome Company Due to the high price and the supply shortage. Also, the price hike of oil has increased the cost of the supply chains, which causes trouble for the Coffee Rome Company at the global level in receiving the required supply. All these discussed factors created a chance of reduction in the profit for the Coffee Rome Company.
Research Question, Objectives and Aim
The research for management assignment expert aims to evaluate the impact of challenges caused by the rising prices of coffee beans that are affecting Coffee Rome. The study will further consider the strategies that can overcome the issues of high prices in the supply chain that adversely affect Coffee Rome.
The objectives of the research are
● To determine the causes for an increase in the prices of beans required by coffee Rome
● To evaluate the impact that Coffee Rome faces due to the increase in prices of beans
● To identify strategies that can overcome the issues of high prices in the supply chain that adversely affect Coffee Rome
The research questions are
● What are the causes for the increase in the prices of beans required by Coffee Rome?
● What is the impact that Coffee Rome faces due to the increase in the prices of beans?
● What are the strategies that can overcome the issues of high prices in the supply chain that adversely affect Coffee Rome?
A secondary study will be conducted in this research. A secondary study will help collect extensive data about the supply chain issues that have caused an increase in the prices of beans. A descriptive design will be chosen in this research. The descriptive research design will help in the in-depth recognition of factors such as climate that can impact the prices of coffee beans.
The study will consider the case study of Coffee Rome for evaluation of issues the company faces and strategies for its mitigations. The study will additionally initially consider 50 journal articles as the population and will filter it to 20 journal articles. These articles will be chosen from Google Scholar, ResearchGate, ScienceDirect and Sagepub within the last five years.
The data will be collected from qualitative sources to acquire information about the risks posed by the global supply chain for Coffee Rome. The qualitative method for the collection of data helps in acquiring subjective information (Hamilton & Finley, 2020). The instruments of the Coffee Rome case study and journal articles will also be used to collect data.
Data analysis methods
Thematic analysis will be considered for this research. Thematic analysis helps evaluate extensive data collected from secondary sources about the issue in the global supply chain (Zhao et al., 2020). Thematic analysis will help investigate the impact of supply chain challenges for causing a rise in the prices of coffee beans required by Coffee Rome. This analysis will ensure that the case study of Coffee Rome is carefully examined to determine its issue of price rise. The analysis will help in understanding the best measures that can be used to mitigate the challenge of the price rise of Coffee Rome.
The study is reliable as the data will be collected from authentic sources such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate and Science Direct. All the data will be stored on the researcher personal laptop. The objective of the research is the key source to avoid any bias because it is all based on a particular company (Patel & Patel, 2019). The data will be valid as these sources give proper information about issues in the global supply chain and practise for its mitigation.
Participants in the study
The Research Development manager has played a key role in conducting and completing the research. Researchers have used google scholar to gather information and to analyse the causes of the increased in the price of coffee beans.
Research contents are not copy pasted from the other's research paper, it helps to avoid any plagiarism (Keskinbora, 2019). Also, they acknowledged the author, whose articles helped the researchers gather much information about the case.
The Coffee Rome Company is globally activated, so they require a large supply of coffee beans. Not only that, Coffee Rome provides services with products. As a result, they require different yet high-quality coffee beans to satisfy the customers. Another required resource for the Coffee Rome Company is the coffee bean price stability.
Review and evaluation of applied research methods and techniques
The secondary qualitative research method and secondary quantitative method will be beneficial to accomplish this research proposal. Applying such techniques as thematic analysis and inductive research approach will make research more credible for the readers and assessors (Bischof et al., 2022). Observation, analysis and theme are three different technique that used in this research. These research methodologies will easily derive global supply management and its corresponding factors. Researchers will satisfy the research objectives for a better understanding of the challenges faced by Coffee Rome in the context of Global supply management. Applied research methods will be easy for the researcher to conduct the whole proposal and be cost-effective. Designing such a proposal will allow the content to stay close to reality.
Selection of methods and techniques
Secondary data collection methods will be chosen from articles, journals, newspapers, blogs, etc. These things will make the process easier to gather information on the chosen topic (Ross & Bibler Zaidi, 2019). More importantly, authenticity and reliability are the main cause for selecting these techniques for this research.
Research Techniques
The above techniques are chosen to reduce the chances of data fraud in terms of research credibility. Tactics such as thematic analysis and secondary data collection allow the researcher to analyse the factors on the top level to understand the components and challenges of global supply management. These techniques are easy access, cost-effectiveness, less time consuming and data credibility are responsible for selecting such techniques to accomplish the task (Bazen, Barg, & Takeshita, 2021).
Three (3) data Collection Tools for Your Research Project
Prime three data collection tools are used to gather information about supply chain management and its factors, such as Wiley, ScienceDirect and research gate (Li, Higgins & Deeks, 2019). Such tools allow the researcher to collect relevant and authenticated data from previously done research. This also allows us to follow peer-reviewed articles, which makes this research more attractive.
Data Collected
The researcher will choose secondary data collection to gather relevant information on the supply chain management issues in the global aspect. This mode of data collection will be chosen based on some reasons, such as its effectiveness and availability. These two reasons are the prime reason for selecting this method in this research proposal. Secondary data provides a vast range to do analysis and satisfies the criteria for descriptive data analysis to shed on recent issues. It becomes easier to focus on specific issues by depending on this kind of data collection method.
The primary data collection method will not be the perfect match for this research proposal in terms of subjectivity and responses from the participants (Ross & Bibler Zaidi, 2019). Any kind of survey will provide quantitative data, which needs to be analysed analytically and the probability of mistakes will rise. Such mistakes will make this research less credible and lose its importance. Interviewing is another option for primary data collection where the risk of misinformation remains constant. Any misinformation from the respondents will lead to a mismatched analysis of the whole context and the proposal will lose its weight in terms of content.
This is why the primary data collection method is not chosen for this specific task. The secondary data collection mode seems to trustworthiness to the researcher.
Secondary refers to the situation where other authors already analyse data and it has a specific identification number which indicates the authenticity of this research. Using such information in a secondary way makes the topic attractive and relevant for the researcher and readers. The decision-making of the researcher becomes easier among selected data sources. On the other hand, primary sources offer a huge range of data which increases the time consumption of the researcher to make decisions on the acceptance of collected data (Rahman, 2020). Thus, confusion arose within the scholar’s mind, which reduced the report's effectiveness. Supply chain management is a global topic, making it tougher to collect information verbally. In contrast, secondary data are available from open sources specifically based on different categories of supply chain management and its factors. Considering all the pros and cons, the secondary data collection method seems more convenient to apply than the primary data collection mode in this research proposal.
Research tools, techniques and resources
The study will use resources of Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and RearchGate for the collection of secondary information about issues of supply chain and strategies for mitigation. The keywords search tools will be used for acquiring authentic data from Google Scholar. The keywords that will be used are challenges in the supply chain, supply chain, rising prices and supply chain innovations.
It can be stated from Figure 1 that the technique of snipping will be used for setting forth the keyword search. Two references have been used below that will act as evidence for keyword search of challenges in the supply chain.

Outcomes of the review of the tools with the trainer/assessor
Appropriate and precise findings can be seen through this research proposal, such as cost-related issues by the suppliers of coffee beans. The tools play a huge role in making this proposal more credible and relevant for the readers by its accuracy and preciseness. The user-friendliness of these tools makes the way smoother to accomplish the task.
Introduction
Coffee Rome has been facing problems with sustainable supply chain management at the global level. The current research shall focus on managing a sustainable global supply chain.
Aims of the research
The present research aims to find sustainable solutions to the problems faced by the global supply chain of Coffee Rome. Coffee Rome shall be able to involve the strategies suggested in the present report to effectively function for cost reduction management in the business processes.
Purpose and Context of Project
The project aims to apply the relevant business ideas to eliminate the risk factors and challenges of the global supply chain by Coffee Rome. The Research and Development Manager has effectively renovated strategic governance of the organisational framework so that profit margins and risk factors can be reduced for Coffee Rome.
Research Questions
● What are the causes for the increase in the prices of beans required by Coffee Rome?
● What is the impact that Coffee Rome faces due to the increase in the prices of beans?
● What are the strategies that can overcome the issues of high prices in the supply chain that adversely affect Coffee Rome?
Research Strategy
The current research has been carried out using an inductive research approach. The researcher has chosen the inductive research approach as the data for the given study have been found via the company documentation of the sales reports and the relevant data from the same business industry (Zimon, Tyan & Sroufe, 2020). The researcher has therefore been able to observe and analyse the specific data set to identify the global supply chain management challenges for the given business organisation. The inductive research approach has helped the researcher predict the strategies to be undertaken by the organisation's management to tackle the challenges and promote business growth.
Data collection techniques
The data collection techniques for the given research have been secondary qualitative. The secondary qualitative data accessed from the relevant sources of the business industry has been utilised for the current research (Kshetri, 2021). The researcher has been able to access the data from government journals, company records and other economic forums. The data has been utilised for the research after due permission from the source authorities. The secondary qualitative data collection technique has helped the researcher save time, money and energy spent on the data collection procedure. Previous research on the relevant topics has also been studied thoroughly for the present research data analysis.
Data analysis and findings, including any threats to the integrity of the data, trends, and challenges
The collected data have been analysed to determine the trend for developing risks in the global supply chain for Coffee ROME. It has been found that the changes in the climate of the locations where the coffee plantations are located have significantly affected the production of coffee (Esmaeilian et al., 2020). The reduction in production is a serious threat to the supply chain. The rise in petroleum pricing has increased the company's transportation costs. This has led to a reduction in the profit margin of Coffee Rome.
It is difficult to find a specific solution for the company from the large numbers of the resources. The pricing of the coffee has been a determining factor that is reducing the marketability of the coffee beans (Pan et al., 2021). Coffee Rome has been found to suffer in the profit margins of the business due to the pricing of coffee beans (Bui et al., 2021). The challenges faced by Coffee Rome have been changing due to the tight competition from global business organisations. Coffee Rome can initially help the business growth by adopting sustainable management strategies, which include plantation maintenance and introductory subsidiary logistic company, to name a few.
Implications of the research on business practice
This research on Coffee Rome's business has gathered information but has some limitations due to lacking details. Although the given information has shown what problems Coffee Rome is facing, it still needs more data to reach the problem's core. Some challenges have been confronted while doing this research as some accurate data is not collected due to the problems with the supply chains that the business is tackling. The agriculture of coffee has confronted climate change issues and this crisis is increasing with time (Bilen et al., 2023). The entire research has given secondary qualitative information on the factors affecting supply chains worldwide. Some hindrances can lead to the price rise of the coffee received from suppliers and the expense of fuels which adds to the trouble. The authority of this company should not pay any heed to these issues and try to resolve them tactfully to maintain balance in the business. Having suppliers from different countries has compromised the quality of coffee. The quality of the raw coffee bean is influenced by climate change, disproportionate rains of high altitudes and other agricultural issues which compromise the quality each year (Olana Jawo et al., 2023). The research justifies these changes and suggests new strategies to find solutions.
Recommendations for further research
The research thoroughly rectifies the mistakes done by the business and has found solutions for the fuel costs that can be adopted by Coffee Rome company. New strategies, such as negotiations with the suppliers, must be made and the fuel cost problems must be identified to get solutions (Alamsyah et al., 2023). Relevant business ideas such as improving business structure are mandatory for Coffee Rome and the company can upgrade its management skills to welcome more profit. The company should gain more information on climate change affecting coffee plants and solve the issue of fuel costs by monitoring driving patterns and getting fuel cards.
Summary and review
It can be summarised from the above discussion that the challenges and risks of Coffee Rome in business can be overcome or at least minimised by adapting the suggested changes to the organisational structure.
